Reconfigurable RF filters are a key enabler for compact multi-function radio sensor systems and hence an important subject for research and development (R&D), which is in line with the Kingdom vision 2030. The project is in particular aimed to develop an advanced reconfigurable RF filter technology using multilayer substrates and heterogeneous integration of switching/tuning elements such as pin diodes and varactors. The new RF filter technology is explored to tackle challenging yet conflicting issues of performance, functionality (tunable/reconfigurable), miniaturization, and low cost. In this regard, the system-in-package (SiP) approach has emerged as the most effective solution, and this is what we propose to do in this project. With this new material with multilayer substrates capability, there will be novelty in the reconfigurable RF filter design and implementation. The main topics to be addressed on this project are as follows:
Reconfigurable notch filter technology
Reconfigurable Channel filter technology
Reconfigurable Bandwidth filter technology
Develop and demonstrate advanced reconfigurable bandwidth filters with:
Reconfigurable filter technology with bandwidth and frequency tuning
Developing advanced reconfigurable filter technology for flexibly controlling both bandwidth and centre frequency over wide
frequency ranges with functionalities such as:
