John Zhu

John Zhu obtained his M.S in Computer Engineering from the Pennsylvania State University in 1990. He then joined the Dun & Brad Street as senior software engineer. In 1993, he joined Motorola at Chicago as a Lead Software Engineer and participate the development of GSM and iDEN wireless infrastructures. From 1997 to 2001, he joined Sony as director of system engineering and was responsible for the overall system development of broadband wireless data network for Sony. From 2001 to 2003, he joined Wingcast (Ford and Qualcomm joint venture) as system architect and championed the overall design of service delivery system including the requirement gathering, feature partition, architecture, and technology selection. He joined Calit2-UCSD in 2004 as a R&D engineer. At Calit2, his focus is the research and development of location based mobile applications. From 2007 to 2009, he worked as a consultant for Ford and was the main contributor to its SYNC product. John is also the co-founder of LBS Solutions.
